Social Media Ended Oppression In Nigerian Music Industry – Danny Young Says

Ajibola Danladi, the popular Nigerian musician, who is also known as Danny Young, has stated that the emergence of the social media put an end to oppression in the Nigerian music industry.

He stated this while recounting how a powerful figure deliberately removed him from an award nomination.

In his latest podcast, the singer noted that social media diminished the control that industry gatekeepers once held over creatives.

“The good thing is that social media came to expose many of them because it gave people the opportunity to express themselves. That is what led to the emergence of what we call Gen Z.
“My definition of Gen Z is freedom of speech, freedom of rights, and freedom of expression.”
