Registrar at the Benue State University (BSU), Makurdi

Benue State University (BSU) Makurdi was established by Edit No: 3 of 1991 as the first state owned University in Northern Nigeria. The Benue State University Law was amended in July, 2020. The Vision of the University is “to be the University of first choice in Nigeria and Africa and among the top 200 in the world”.

Its Mission is “to be a centre of excellence in creating knowledge and its core values are excellence in research and publication, building characters of students, effective engagement with relevant communities and using education as a tool for the people’s liberation”. The Vision, Mission and Core Values of the University are the signpost of its Mandate.

Applications are invited from suitable qualified candidates for the position below which will be vacant by 1st July, 2024:

Job Title: Registrar

Location: Markurdi, Benue

The Job

  • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and shall be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for the day-to-day administration of the University.
  • The Registrar shall by virtue of that office be Secretary to the Council, the Senate, Congregation and Convocation.

Qualifications
Candidates shall possess:

  • A good honours Degree (at least Second Class Lower) from a recognized University;
  • At least fifteen years (15) post-qualification experience in university administration;
  • At the time of being considered for appointment as Registrar, not below the rank of Deputy Registrar; noting that possession of a Postgraduate Degree in a relevant field shall be an added advantage; and
  • A good knowledge of the operations of the University system.
  • Candidate must not be more than sixty (60) years on the date of assumption of duty.

Conditions of Service

  • The Registrar shall hold office for a single term of five (5) years only beginning from the effective date of his appointment and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in his letter of appointment by the Governing Council of the University.
