Peter Obi’s Heartfelt Visit to ‘Saving Little Hearts Program’ at Cardiocare Hospital, Abuja (Photos)

Mr. Peter Obi has reaffirmed his dedication to the health and well-being of Nigerian children by visiting the Saving Little Hearts Program at Cardiocare Multi-Specialist Hospital in Abuja On May 20, 2024.

This remarkable initiative, spearheaded by Hospitals for Humanity (HfH), addresses the urgent issue of congenital heart defects, which affect 1 in 100 live births. Tragically, 4 of these cases result in fatalities within the first five days of life due to critical conditions.

However, there is hope. The pediatric surgical program is committed to equipping local medical personnel with state-of-the-art technology and advanced patient care practices, especially in cardiology. This visionary initiative aims to reduce medical tourism, combat medical brain drain, and provide essential support to underprivileged families in Nigeria. During his visit, Mr. Peter Obi urged the government to enhance its support for the healthcare system. Encouragingly, with proper medical care, 139 children have already benefited from life-saving treatments. With an ambitious goal of reaching 150 successful cases annually, HfH is tirelessly working to achieve this target.

Mr. Obi witnessed the profound impact of HfH’s work and shared in their commitment to improving healthcare for Nigerian children. Together, we can transform the healthcare landscape and create a brighter future for our children.
