Peter Obi Tells Politicians: Public Funds Are Not Your Piggy Bank

Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has issued a heartfelt plea to fellow politicians, urging them to prioritize the welfare of the masses by responsibly utilizing government funds. Speaking passionately at the Grimard School of Nursing and Midwifery in Ayingba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, Obi emphasized that public funds are not meant for personal gain but are entrusted to politicians for the betterment of society.

“We politicians should realize that the money in our care does not belong to us but to the people, and we should spend it to uplift their standard of living,” Obi asserted. “The money is not our own; it belongs to the people, and we have a duty to utilize it for their benefit.”

Obi’s commitment to this cause is underscored by his track record, particularly his renowned dedication to education during his tenure as governor of Anambra State. The Catholic Bishop of Idah Diocese, Anthony Adaji, commended Obi for his exemplary investments in education, which significantly enhanced student performance across Anambra State schools.

During his visit to Ankpa and Olamaboro local government areas, Obi further demonstrated his commitment to community development by inaugurating two boreholes aimed at providing essential water supply to the communities.

In urging politicians to uphold integrity and prioritize public welfare, Peter Obi continues to champion a vision of responsible governance that places the interests of the people above all else. His actions and words serve as a poignant reminder of the ethical responsibilities inherent in public service.
