Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Ikeja GRA, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Purpose
The Finance Manager will:

  • Oversee the staff responsible for front end financial/accounting services such as billing, cash/bank receipts, bank reconciliation etc.
  • Work closely with the operations/front line teams at the Centre and Head office Finance and procurement teams.
  • Assume the responsibility for all the financial operations of the Centre, preparing financial and management accounts, budgets and forecasts and will have significant involvement in financial planning, analysis and performance review of the center.

Job Description

  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable.
  • Produce error-free accounting reports.
  • Analyze financial information and summarizing financial status.
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
  • Provide technical support and advice on Management accounts.
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  • Manage accounting assistants.
  • Provide input into the department’s goal-setting process.
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule.
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Develop and managing financial systems/policies.
  • Negotiate and obtaining finance for major projects.
  • Control and forecasting income and expenditure.
  • Preparing timely management and financial accounts and accurate preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • Undertaking all day to day financial transactions and credit control functions.
  • Preparation of monthly management accounts for the business unit.
  • Assisting the General Manager on Financial Reporting with the preparation of consolidated group financial statements and all year end work.
  • Preparing yearly budgets and undertaking quarterly/monthly/weekly performance reviews thereof.
  • Upgrading financial processes and systems.
  • Leading the Audit of the Centre.
  • Financial forecasts and analysis for each potential Centre, as part of PPC’s growth Agenda.
  • Close liaison with the General Manager on Financial Reporting to resolve all issues.
  • Involvement in cash planning, monitoring and control.
  • Any other Ad hoc duties as directed by Management.

Key Result Area

  • Key Result Area 1: >20 financial transactions and credit control functions daily.
  • Key Result Area 2: >90% daily update of transactions on SAGE software.
  • Key Result Area 3:100% Preparation of error free monthly management accounts for the business unit.
  • Key Result Area 4: 90% daily resolution of client’s refund.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Key Result Area 1: <100% effective cash planning, monitoring and control.
  • Key Result Area 2: Zero error in preparing yearly budgets.
  • Key Result Area 3: Zero error in accounts reconciliation, financial processes and systems.
  • Key Result Area 4: 100% accurate preparation of monthly management accounts.

Job Specification

  • Education: Minimum Qualification of B.Sc. in Accounting or other accounting-related courses.
  • Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or any other related accounting certification.

Experience:

  • At least 10 years’ experience with at least 3 in a similar role
  • Experience of staff Management.
  • Excellent understanding of Modern accounting techniques and software.

  • Strong accounting and book-keeping skills

  • Candidates must be able to use SAGE or any accounting software.
  • Good budgeting skills and the ability to handle finances.
  • The ability to prioritize and manage several different tasks at once.
  • Excellent analytical and numerical abilities.
  • Sound business knowledge.
