Save the Children is working in Nigeria because one in five children in Nigeria dies before their fifth birthday. About 40% of children miss out on school and have to work to survive while nearly 2 million children have lost one or both parents to an AIDS-related disease.

Job Summary

  • Save the Children is implementing a digital education program in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees [UNHCR] created by the Telefónica Foundation and “La Caixa” Foundation, whose hallmarks are quality, sustainability, and  accessibility from anywhere in the world.
  • With the aim to become a global reference in transformation and innovation in education and seek to narrow the  education gap in vulnerable environments in Latin  America, the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia.
  • The Digital Learning Coaches will be responsible for coordinating and delivering face-to-face training sessions for the teachers in the project earmarked schools, as well as continuous monitoring of teachers and  learners to ensure the acquisition of skills and the use of ProFuturo resources, comply with the activities of the operational plan of the project to achieve the scope of the  goals established for each educational centre; while also updating field reports and incidences on ProFuturo Salesforce portal.
  • The role holder will also be responsible for   recording daily attendance of learners in the supported schools, addressing low attendance rates, assisting in data entry and verification of refugee learners, and providing support to the education officers during the conduct of   back-to-school campaigns.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Dialogue with Parents on the support provided for their wards;
  • Planning and delivering face-to-face training sessions for teachers in the supported schools;
  • Continuous monitoring of teachers and learners to ensure the acquisition of skills and the use of ProFuturo resources, comply with the activities of the operational plan of the project to achieve the scope of the goals established for each educational centre;
  • Updating field reports and incidences on ProFuturo Salesforce portal;
  • Record daily attendance of learners in the earmarked schools;
  • Address low attendance rates, and assisting in data entry and verification of refugee learners,
  • Provide support to the education officers during the conduct of   back-to-school campaigns.
  • Build positive relationships with children, parents, teachers, and the community.
  • Report any issues within the identified schools to the line manager and suggest solutions for such.
  • Participate in training workshops and thematic exercises as per needs identified.

Safeguarding:

  • Liaise with Safeguarding focal points in conducting safeguarding risk assessment and develop a mitigation plan when needed and provide ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information on Save the Children’s Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct to all project stakeholders.
  • Responsible for ensuring new staff, partners and volunteers undertake safeguarding induction and refresher training and strive to ensure that project delivery is carried out with the highest standards of Safe Programming.

General:

  • Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the relevant line manager.
  • Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality.
  • Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Essential Criteria:

  • A Nigeria Certificate in Education[ NCE] or it’s equivalent.

Experience / Skills:

  • Proven experience as an online digital learning instructor
  • Fostering learners interactions.
  • Development of workplan in line with the approved curriculum
  • Organizing online and virtual lessons.
  •  Experience in Action Based Assessments
  • Reviewing instructions from the learners perspective.
  • Providing feedback to the learners on their learning outcomes
  • Excellent relationship building skills to work across all departments.
  • An initiative-taking, proactive, inspiring attitude with the ability to manage and prioritize an unpredictable workload and solve problems quickly with limited support.
  • Ability to fact check and draft materials.
  • The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
  • Commitment and interest in Save the Children’s mission, vision, and values. A good understanding of Save the Children mandate and child focus and an ability to ensure this continues to underpin our support.
