Tributes Pour in as Chief Edwin Ochai Marks Another Year

Encomiums have continued to pour in in celebration of the founder and president of the Idoma International Carnival, Chief Edwin Ochai.

Chief Ochai has been widely recognized for his commitment to promoting the rich cultural heritage of the Idoma people.

Through the annual Idoma International Carnival, he has successfully positioned Otukpo, Benue State, as a cultural hub, drawing visitors, dignitaries and cultural enthusiasts from across Nigeria and beyond.

Beyond his work with the carnival, Chief Ochai also serves as the President of Idomas in the Diaspora, where he plays a vital role in uniting Idoma sons and daughters across the globe, fostering cultural pride and community development.

Interestingly, Chief Ochai’s birthday coincides with that of John ‘Mad Jack’ Fuller, a historic British philanthropist known for his contributions to society.

Like Fuller, Ochai has dedicated his life to service, using his resources and influence to uplift his people.

On social media, friends, well-wishers, and admirers have flooded their timelines with heartfelt tributes, celebrating his leadership, generosity, and contributions to the Idoma nation.

Many have also acknowledged his Chieftaincy Title of Odojo 1 of Agila, a testament to the respect and honor he commands within the Idoma Kingdom.

During the 2024 edition of the Idoma International Carnival, the paramount ruler of Idoma land, HRM Elaigwu Odogbo John Obagaji (Och’Idoma V), described Chief Ochai as an indomitable son who never takes no for an answer.

He praised Ochai’s dedication to the Idoma cause, noting that his efforts in preserving and promoting the culture have earned him a place in history.
“Edwin Ochai is a proud son of the soil whose impact speaks for itself. His passion for the Idoma people is evident in his actions and we are grateful for his contributions,” the monarch stated.
